Configuring the VLAN Traffic Forwarding Optimization Function
Context
If the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function is disabled, a switch (or stack) delivers received unknown unicast and broadcast packets of a VLAN to all the LPUs (or all member switches), and then determines whether the LPUs (or member switches) need to forward the packets. This process consumes forwarding resources.
After the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function is enabled on a standalone switch or a stack, the switch or stack dynamically adjusts traffic forwarding on switch fabrics or stack ports based on VLAN device or stack traffic distribution in the system.
Only the CE12800E configured with FD-X series cards supports this function. To implement the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function for CE12800E configured with ED-E/EG-E/EGA-E series cards and CE12800 series switches, run the multicast forwarding optimization command.
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run undo vlan forwarding optimization disable
The VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function is enabled.
By default, the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function is enabled.
You are advised to enable the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function. However, this function increases the response time to users' VLAN requests. If users require fast response to their requests, disable the VLAN traffic forwarding optimization function.
- Run commit
The configuration is committed.
