Installing the Secondary Side Pipes
- Open the packaging.
- Check that the packing case is in good condition and the seals are not tampered with or broken.
If the package is soaked or deformed, or the seals or pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes are not intact, submit the Cargo Problem Feedback Form.
- Use a box cutter to cut the pressure-sensitive tape of the packing case.
Use the box cutter with care, ensuring that the knife edge is not completely inserted into the package. Otherwise, the device may get damaged.

- Check the secondary side pipes.Table 3-3 Checklist
Check Item
Description
Pipe materials
Check the pipe materials against the BOM list. If the pipe assembly cannot be completed due to lack of materials, pipe contamination may be caused.
Pipe seal covers
Check that all the pipe seal covers are in position. If there is any pipe seal cover missing, check whether the pipe is damaged or has impurities. If yes, label the pipe for subsequent cleaning and inspection.
Pipe appearance
Check the pipe appearance according to the general specifications.
Ensure that the pipes are not bent, deformed, bumped, or have parts missing.
Solder joints
Check that the pipes are free from poor soldering, missing soldering, sand holes, excessive polishing, and a large area of corrosion.
Valves
Open and close all the valves at least twice to ensure they work smoothly and quietly. Check that the valve casting is free from sand holes, cracks, and residues.
Flanges
Check the raised faces of all flanges. Ensure that industrial flanges have dense water marks and the sanitary flanges have seal ring grooves on the raised faces. The raised faces are free from deep groove scratches, bumps, and a large area of corrosion.
Cleanliness
Check whether the pipes have visible dust and dirt inside. If yes, clean the pipes before use.
Sealing rings
Check that the dimensions of all sealing materials meet requirements and the surfaces are free from dents, scratches, and burrs. In principle, it is not allowed to reuse sealing rings because the used sealing rings have obvious dents.
- Install the secondary side pipes.
- Before adjusting the angles of the inlet and outlet branch pipes, remove the branch pipes, determine the appropriate angles, and then install the branch pipes. Do not loosen the clamp and rotate the branch pipe. Do not damage or move the sealing rings between the main and branch pipes.
- Do not introduce impurities when installing the secondary side pipes. Otherwise, the sealing performance of the secondary side will be affected.
- For details about the positions of the CDU, cabinet, and secondary side, see Figure 3-22 and Figure 3-23. Assemble the pipes and place them in the actual installation position in advance.
Ensure that the secondary pipe connectors are aligned with those on the CDU and cabinet, and do not interfere with the floor supports, cabinet supports, floor cabling trough, water pan, and air conditioner pipes.
- For details about how to lay out the secondary side pipes, see Figure 3-22 and Figure 3-23. If the layout does not meet requirements, contact Huawei technical support.
- The distance between the cabinet bottom and the floor must be greater than or equal to 500 mm.
- The distance between the cabinet bottom and the secondary side pipes ranges from 200 mm to 500 mm.
Figure 3-24 Height of the secondary side pipes(Reference) The following figure shows the relative positions of the primary side pipes. The actual positions depend on the site survey result.
Figure 3-25 Primary side pipes for 12 cabinets in two rows (example)Figure 3-26 Primary side pipes for six cabinets in a row (example)Figure 3-27 Height of the primary side pipes - Connect the secondary side pipes to peripheral components. Ensure that the branch pipes are installed with an appropriate angle.
- Connect the secondary pipes to the manifold hoses.
Ensure that the bend radius of the hoses is proper and that the hose clamps have no interference with the cabinet support. Open and close the valves on the water inlet and outlet pipes twice to ensure that the handles do not interfere with each other.
- Connect the secondary pipes to the CDU hoses.
Ensure that the bend radius of the hoses is proper and that the hose clamps have no interference with the cabinet support. Open and close the valves on the CDU branch pipes to ensure that the handles do not interfere with each other.
- Open and close all the butterfly valves and ball valves to ensure that the handles do not interfere with each other.
Ensure unobstructed manual operation of drainage outlets and exhaust valves.
- Connect the secondary pipes to the manifold hoses.
- Torque the bolts between branch pipes to 165 N.m.
- Install the pipes onto the pipe supports.
- Secure the pipe supports using screws.
- Secure the secondary pipes using staple bolts.
- Check the sealing performance.
- Use a clamp to secure a ball valve of the secondary pipe and the pressure gauge adapter, and install a pressure gauge to the pressure gauge adapter. See (1) in Figure 3-28.
- Open the pressure gauge.
- Install a pressure plug at the valve of a branch. See (2) in Figure 3-28.
- Short-circuit the cold and hot water pipes at the secondary side, and close the remaining valves on the pipes. See (3) in Figure 3-28.
- Connect the air compressor to the connector on the pressure plug, slowly add the air pressure to 600 kPa, and record the reading on the pressure gauge after the pressure is stable for 10 minutes.
Before pumping air into the pipes, ensure that all screws are tightened, no flange sealing rings are missing, all outlet valves are closed, all inlet valves are opened, and cold and hot water pipes are short-circuited.
- Observe the following when performing the pressure test:
- It must be performed by qualified personnel.
- Do not remove any component during the process. Otherwise, the air discharged will cause personal injury.
- The removal and connection operations can be performed only after the air is discharged.
- Observe the following when performing the pressure test:
- Check whether there is obvious leakage of the pipes, for example, the sound of gas leakage.
- If yes, check the cause of the leakage and rectify the leakage caused by improper connections of valves or clamps. If the problem is not caused by improper pipe installation, contact Huawei technical support.
- If no, go to 4.g.
- Disconnect the air compressor, and read the pressure gauge reading after four hours.
- Check whether the pressure leakage value exceeds 30 kPa.
- If yes, check the cause of the leakage and rectify the leakage caused by improper connections of valves or clamps. If the problem is not caused by improper pipe installation, contact Huawei technical support.
- If no, go to 5.
- Check for liquid leakage.
- Open the two exhaust valves on the secondary pipe until the pressure decreases to 0.
Before exhausting the gas, do not remove any component. Otherwise, the gas released will cause personal injury.
- Connect the primary and secondary pipes to the CDU. Connect a filter between the water outlet pipe of the secondary side and the water inlet pipe of the CDU.
- Power on the CDU to fill water into the pipes for exhausting air.
- After the pipes are fully filled with water, close the exhaust valve. After 1.5 hours, check whether there are any traces of water leakage.
- If yes, locate and identify the water leakage, and eliminate the leakage caused by unfastened valves.
If the problem is not caused by improper installation (for example, the pipe is well welded or the ball valve leaks), contact Huawei technical support.
- If no, go to 6.
- If yes, locate and identify the water leakage, and eliminate the leakage caused by unfastened valves.
- Open the two exhaust valves on the secondary pipe until the pressure decreases to 0.
- Clean the secondary pipes.
The secondary pipes must be cleaned and checked before delivery to eliminate impurities and oil stains. Use deionized water to clean the secondary side and measure the pH and conductivity before and after the cleaning. The pH and conductivity must remain unchanged. In addition, water that has been used for cleaning must not contain grease.
- Start the CDU.
- After the water is circulated with the maximum flow for four hours, stop the CDU.
- Close the ball valves at both ends of the filter at the secondary side.
- Place a water container under the filter at the secondary side.
- Open the filter and check whether there are impurities on the filter.
- Use a pH pen meter to check whether the water quality meets requirements (pH = 6 to 8, conductivity < 10 μS/cm, turbidity ≤10 NTU).
- If yes, go to 6.g.
- If no, clean the pipes until the water quality meets the requirements.
- Remove water from the system through the CDU drainage port and secondary pipe.
- Restore the original pipe connections.
