Creating a Host Group
To centrally manage multiple hosts, you can logically aggregate hosts into a host group.
Context
- By default, host group vm_host_group_0 and vm_host_group_1 have been created on the storage system, and hosts vm_host_0 and vm_host_1 have been added into the host groups, respectively.
- A host group can include a maximum of 64 hosts.
- A host can be added to a maximum of 64 host groups.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
Host > Host Group.
- Click Create.
The Create Host Group dialog box is displayed.

- The name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
- The name must contain 1 to 31 characters.

- Select the hosts you want to add to the host group.
- In the Available Hosts area, select one or more hosts based on service requirements.
If hosts to be added into a host group belong to different clusters, data access conflict may occur, resulting in data loss. Before performing this operation, you are advised to install cluster software to manage hosts.
By default, Shows only the hosts that do not belong to any host group at the lower left corner of the dialog box is selected to facilitate host locating.
- Click
to add the hosts to the Selected Hosts area.
- Confirm the creation of the host group.
- Click OK.
The Caution dialog box is displayed.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed if only one host is selected.
- Click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
