Creating a LUN Group
To allow hosts to use LUNs, you must add LUNs into LUN groups and establish mapping views between the LUN groups and host groups. A LUN group can contain one or multiple LUNs.
Context
- A LUN group can contain up to 4096 LUNs, and a LUN can be added to a maximum of 64 LUN groups.
In VM services:
- As LUN groups and host groups have been created on storage systems and have been added in to mapping views before delivery, you need only to add created LUNs into corresponding LUN groups.
- LUN groups vm_lun_group_0 and vm_lun_group_1 have been created on the storage system and LUNs vm_lun_0 and vm_lun_1 have been added into the LUN groups, respectively.
Do not delete the preset LUN information about the storage system. Otherwise, the VM service fails.
- New LUNs must be added to the LUN groups of corresponding controllers. Otherwise, VM performance will be affected. By default, LUN group vm_lun_group_0 maps to controller A, and LUN group vm_lun_group_1 maps to controller B.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
LUN > LUN Group.
- Click Create.
The Create LUN Group dialog box is displayed.
- Set basic properties for the LUN group.Table 4-10 describes related parameters.Table 4-10 LUN group parameters
