Creating Hosts in Batches
You can create hosts in batches for a storage system.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
Host.
- Choose Create > Batch Create.
The Batch Create Host dialog box is displayed.
- Set basic information for hosts.
Table 4-13 describes related parameters.

- The name must be unique.
- The name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
- The name must contain 1 to 31 characters.

OS
Operating system used by a host.
[Value range]
Possible values are Linux, Windows, Windows Server 2012, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, XenServer, Mac OS, VMware ESX, Oracle VM, and OpenVMS.
NOTE:- If the host runs the Windows operating system and you need to use the space reclaiming function of thin LUNs, select Windows Server 2012.
- If the application type is FusionCompute, you are advised to select Linux.

NOTE:A maximum of 500 hosts can be created at a time.

Manually specify the suffix
When you create multiple hosts, the system automatically appends a suffix number to each host name for host distinction. If you want to specify the suffix by yourself, select this parameter.

Start Number
This parameter is valid after Manually specify the suffix is selected. From the configured start number, the system incrementally appends a suffix number to the name of each host for host distinction.

0 to (10000 – Number of hosts to be created)
NOTE:If you want to create 300 hosts, the value range of the start number is 0 to 9700.
- Confirm the host creation.
GUIs may vary with product versions and models. The actual GUIs prevail.
- Click OK.
The security alert dialog box is displayed.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
- Click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
