Automatically Scanning for a Host
This operation enables you to trigger automatic scanning of hosts. The discovered hosts are automatically added to the host list.
Prerequisites
- UltraPath has been installed on the hosts. OS native multipathing software is not supported.
- In an iSCSI networking environment, initiators have been configured for hosts to connect to the storage system.
Context
By default, automatic host scan is not enabled.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
Host.
- Optional: Enable automatic host scan.
- If automatic host scan has been enabled, skip this step.
- If the storage system automatically detects a host initiator that has not been added to any host, a 16 KB virtual disk is displayed on the host operating system. After the initiator is added to a host, the virtual disk disappears.
- Click Parameter Settings.
The Set Automatic Scan dialog box is displayed.
- Select Enable and click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Scan for disks on the host. Wait for about 4 minutes and go to Step 5.
- Choose Create > Automatic Scan.
The Confirm dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
The system starts scanning for hosts. Detected hosts will be added to the host list.
If no hosts are found after the scan is complete, scan for disks on application servers and retry.
- Click Close.
