Activating a Snapshot

Prerequisites

• At least one application-based snapshot has been created in the system.
• Health Status of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is Normal.
• Running Status of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is Unactivated.
• The storage pools where the LUNs reside have enough space to store snapshot data.
• The used capacity of each involved storage pool does not exceed the threshold. Otherwise, snapshots will not be activated.

Context

Activating an application-based snapshot activates all of the snapshots within the snapshot group. A data copy is generated for each LUN contained in the application at the point of activation.

Procedure

1. Log in to DeviceManager.
2. Choose Data Protection > Snapshot > LUN Group/Application.
3. From the drop-down list in the upper area of the function pane, select an application type.
4. In the upper area of the function pane, select the snapshot you want to activate and choose More > Activate on the menu bar.

   The security alert dialog box is displayed.

5. Confirm the snapshot activation.
   1. Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation, and click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

   2. Click Close.
