Activating a Snapshot
After an application-based snapshot is activated, a data copy of the application at the activation point in time is generated immediately.
Prerequisites
- At least one application-based snapshot has been created in the system.
- Health Status of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is Normal.
- Running Status of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is Unactivated.
- The storage pools where the LUNs reside have enough space to store snapshot data.
- The used capacity of each involved storage pool does not exceed the threshold. Otherwise, snapshots will not be activated.
Context
Activating an application-based snapshot activates all of the snapshots within the snapshot group. A data copy is generated for each LUN contained in the application at the point of activation.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Data Protection >
Snapshot > LUN Group/Application.
- From the drop-down list in the upper area of the function pane, select an application type.
- In the upper area of the function pane, select the snapshot you want to activate and choose More > Activate on the menu bar.
The security alert dialog box is displayed.
- Confirm the snapshot activation.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation, and click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation, and click OK.
