Deactivating a Snapshot
If the capacity of the storage pool where a source LUN resides is insufficient, you can deactivate snapshots to release the capacity occupied by them.
Prerequisites
- At least one application-based snapshot has been created in the system.
- Running Status of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is Activated.
- The snapshot LUN of each LUN's snapshot included in the application-based snapshot is not configured with LUN copy.
Context
Deactivating an application-based snapshot deactivates all of the snapshots contained in the snapshot group and makes them unavailable.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Data Protection >
Snapshot > LUN Group/Application.
- From the drop-down list in the upper area of the function pane, select an application type.
- In the upper area of the function pane, select the snapshot you want to deactivate and choose More > Deactivate on the menu bar.
The security alert dialog box is displayed.
- Confirm the snapshot deactivation.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation, and click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation, and click OK.
