Configuring APs to Join a Native WAC (Core Switch)
Context
As shown in Figure 4-7, in the centralized gateway solution, if VXLAN is deployed across core and access layers on the fabric and the border node functions as a native WAC, an AP joins the native WAC in the following way:
- (Configuration delivered by iMaster NCE-Campus) Configure an interface with a DHCP address pool applied on the native WAC. The AP automatically obtains a management IP address through DHCP, establishing a management channel with the native WAC.
- (Configuration delivered by iMaster NCE-Campus) Associate the AP with the native WAC to ensure that the AP is authorized to join it.
- (Configuration on the native WAC's web system) Configure the CAPWAP source interface. After the CAPWAP source interface is configured, if an AP attempts to access the network, the native WAC checks the ESN of the AP to determine whether the AP is authorized. If the AP is authorized, a CAPWAP tunnel can be established between the native WAC and the AP, and the AP can join it successfully.
Configuration Tasks
Description |
Operation Procedure |
---|---|
Configuring the management subnet of APs |
When aggregation/access switches are configured for management by iMaster NCE-Campus (see Configuring Aggregation and Access Switches to Be Managed by the Controller for details), the created management subnet can be shared by the aggregation/access switches and APs. Thus, you do not need to configure an additional management VLAN between APs and the border node. When configuring the DHCP server function on the gateway interface of the management subnet, you can enable DHCP Option 43 to carry the WAC's IP address. |
Associating APs with the WAC |
On iMaster NCE-Campus, select the APs to go online on the border node that functions as the native WAC and associate the APs with the border node. |
Configuring a CAPWAP source interface |
Log in to the web system of the native WAC, and configure a CAPWAP source interface (see Configuring a CAPWAP Source Interface). |
