Configuration Constraints and Precautions
High-Risk Operations
During service configuration, the following operations have high risks. Exercise caution when you perform these operations.
- Submit device certificates.
- Restart devices.
- Replace devices.
- Delete devices.
- Delete tenants.
- Set the license management mode upon first login.
- Delete global configuration and sites.
- Delete APs' SSIDs.
- Modify the IP address of a southbound device. This operation is available only in new deployment scenarios and must be performed before the southbound device goes online. Otherwise, the IP address change will result in device disconnection from iMaster NCE-Campus.
Constraints and Precautions About Overall Configurations
- If you configure a service on the iMaster NCE-Campus web UI, do not log in to devices and run commands to configure the same service. Otherwise, configuration conflicts may occur and offline configurations may fail to be delivered to devices.
- iMaster NCE-Campus automatically delivers a save command to southbound devices once every 2 hours to prevent data loss caused by factors such as abnormal power-off.
- You are not allowed to configure services for external extended slots on firewalls and AR routes through iMaster NCE-Campus.
- VPN configuration may lead to network interruption at a site.
- If the primary FusionInsight management node is powered off, an active/standby switchover is performed between primary and secondary FusionInsight management nodes. The active/standby switchover takes a period of time. During this period of time, FusionInsight Manager does not work, but the cluster and services are running normally. However, the following problems may occur on iMaster NCE-Campus:
- Administrators cannot create, modify, or delete tenants.
- Administrators cannot create or delete devices.
- Administrators cannot create, modify, or delete sites.
When configuring FusionInsight, you can set a time period during which active and standby FusionInsight management nodes are switched.
- To ensure the normal running of FusionInsight, the network packet loss rate must be smaller than 5/10000 or the inter-node delay must be smaller than 5 ms. Ensure that the network quality meet requirements. Otherwise, the following functions of iMaster NCE-Campus will be affected:
- Administrators cannot create, modify, or delete tenants.
- Administrators cannot create or delete devices.
- Administrators cannot create, modify, or delete sites.
Constraints and Precautions About Devices
- The models and versions of devices added to iMaster NCE-Campus must meet requirements. If the model or version of a device does not meet requirements of iMaster NCE-Campus, configurations may fail to be delivered to the device. If you upgrade a device running a version not supported by iMaster NCE-Campus to a supported version without deleting the device, the device configuration may fail to be delivered to the device.
- For modular devices that have been registered with iMaster NCE-Campus, do not insert new cards to them, remove cards from them, or change the card and hard disk positions. Otherwise, iMaster NCE-Campus cannot deliver configurations to the modular devices and Status will be Abnormal.
Supported cloud-based management capabilities vary according to devices. There are constraints of cloud-based management on certain devices. For details, see constraints in the corresponding device product documentation.
