Riser Modules
To facilitate removal and installation, remove riser module 2 and then riser module 1. Install riser module 1 and then riser module 2.
Removing a Riser Module
- Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see ESD Protection.
- Power off the device. For details, see Powering Off the Server.
- Remove the power cables and all signal cables.
- Remove the device. For details, see Removing the Device and Guide Rails.
- Remove the chassis cover. For details, see Chassis Cover.
- Remove the cables from a riser module. For details, see Internal Cabling.
- Remove the screw that secures the riser module and lift the module. See Figure 5-51 and Figure 5-52.
- Remove all PCIe cards from the riser module. For details, see PCIe Card on a Riser Module.
- Place the removed riser module in ESD bags.
- If you do not install a riser module immediately, install a filler panel. See Figure 5-53 and Figure 5-54.
Installing a Riser Module
- Remove a filler panel. See Figure 5-55 and Figure 5-56.
- Take a spare riser module out of its ESD bag.
- Install PCIe cards on the riser module. For details, see PCIe Card on a Riser Module.
- Place the riser module in the slot and tighten the screw. See Figure 5-57 and Figure 5-58.
If the SDI card is not installed, you do not need to tighten the screws shown by (3) in Figure 5-57 because the mechanical part is locked on the SDI card.
- Connect cables to the riser module. For details, see Internal Cabling.
- Install the chassis cover. For details, see Chassis Cover.
- Install the device. For details, see Installing the Device and Guide Rails.
- Connect the power cables and all signal cables.
- Power on the device. For details, see Powering On the Server.
- Log in to the iBMC WebUI, and check whether the new component is normal. For details, see the Atlas 800 AI Training Server iBMC Alarm Handling (Models 9000).
