Removing the Device and Guide Rails
Removing the Device and L-Shaped Guide Rails
- Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see ESD Protection.
- Power off the device. For details, see Powering Off the Server.
- Remove the power cables, all signal cables, and liquid cooling pipes.
- Remove the device.
- Loosen the captive screws on the device panel using a screwdriver. See (1) in Figure 5-18.
- Pull out the device from the cabinet along the guide rails away. See (2) in Figure 5-18.
- Remove the device and place it on an ESD platform. This operation requires at least four people. Protect the pipes from scratches during removal.
- Loosen the screws on the guide rail counterclockwise. See Figure 5-19.
- Remove the other guide rail in the same way.
Removing the Device and Adjustable Guide Rails
- Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see ESD Protection.
- Power off the device. For details, see Powering Off the Server.
- Remove all power cables and signal cables.
- Remove the device.
- Loosen the captive screws on the device panel using a screwdriver. See (1) in Figure 5-20.
- Pull out the device from the cabinet along the guide rails away. See (2) in Figure 5-20.
- Remove the device and place it on an ESD platform. This operation requires at least four people.
- Loosen the screws that secure the guide rail. See (1) in Figure 5-21.
- Adjust the length of the guide rail properly to remove it. See (2) in Figure 5-21.
- Remove the other guide rail in the same way.
Removing the Device and Holding Rails
- Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see ESD Protection.
- Power off the device. For details, see Powering Off the Server.
- Remove all power cables and signal cables.
- Remove the device.
- Loosen the captive screws on the device panel using a screwdriver. See (1) in Figure 5-22.
- Pull out the device from the cabinet along the guide rails away. See (2) in Figure 5-22.
- Lever the latches on both sides upwards and remove the device in the direction of the arrow by holding the device bottom. See (1) and (2) in Figure 5-23.
- Remove the device and place it on an ESD platform. This operation requires at least four people.
- Pull the release button outwards, and remove the inner rail. See Figure 5-24.
- Remove the other guide rail in the same way.
- Remove the front end of the holding rail.
- Hold down the plate on the front end of the holding rail and pull out the hook. See (1) and (2) in Figure 5-25.
- Push the holding rail backwards away from the mounting bar. See (3) in Figure 5-25.
- Remove the front end of the holding rail from the inner side of the mounting bar. See (4) in Figure 5-25.
- Push back the retainer plate until it closes. See (5) in Figure 5-25.
- Remove the rear end of the holding rail.
Lift the positioning pin while pulling out the holding rail away from the mounting bar. See (6) and (7) in Figure 5-25.
- Remove the other holding rail in the same way.
