This section provides VRRP configuration examples.
- Example for Configuring a VRRP Group
In this example, a VRRP group is configured to work in master/backup mode. The master router in the VRRP group transmits all network traffic. - Example for Configuring VRRP Groups to Work in Multi-gateway Load Balancing Mode
In this example, two Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) backup groups are configured to work in multi-gateway load balancing mode. Devices in the VRRP groups back up each other and load-balance traffic. - Example for Connecting VRRP Groups to L3VPNs
In this example, a VRRP backup group is specified as a gateway connected to CEs in each Layer 3 virtual private network (L3VPN). This configuration allows various VRRP groups to load-balance traffic and hosts at different sites in each VPN to communicate with each other. - Example for Configuring a VRRP Group on VLANIF Interfaces
In this example, user packets are sent to Device C that is dual-homed to Device A and Device B. The three devices form a ring network. A VRRP group is configured on VLANIF interfaces of these Devices to implement device backup. Broadcasting VRRP packets on the ring network causes broadcast storms. A ring network protocol needs to be configured to prevent this problem. In this example, the Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP) is used. - Example for Configuring an mVRRP Group
In this example, an mVRRP group is configured to determine the master/backup status of service VRRP groups bound to it. - Example for Configuring an mVRRP Group to Ignore an Interface Down Event

In this example, a VRRP group is associated with a BFD session. If the interface on which the VRRP status is Master or the link monitored by BFD goes Down, a backup device in the VRRP group preempts the Master state and takes over. - Example for Associating a VRRP Group with BFD Sessions Using BFD Sampling
In this example, a VRRP group is used together with BFD sampling when link BFD sessions cannot be established between NPEs and PEs. - Example for Associating VRRP with EFM

After receiving the notification, the VRRP backup group performs a master/backup VRRP switchover. - Example for Associating a VRRP Group with an NQA Test Instance
In this example, a VRRP backup group is associated with an NQA test instance. When NQA detects that a cross-device uplink goes Down, it instructs the VRRP backup group to perform a master/backup switchover. - Example for Configuring a Unicast VRRP Group
