Configuring Manually Triggered Dual-Device ARP Hot Backup in VRRP Scenarios
This section describes how to configure manually triggered dual-device ARP hot backup in VRRP scenarios.
Establishing a Dual-Device Backup Platform
This section describes how to establish a dual-device backup platform to back up user information between devices. This allows fast service switching if a network node or link fails, enhancing service reliability.
Prerequisites
Before binding an SSL policy to a TCP connection, configure an SSL policy and load a digital certificate. For detailed configuration procedure, see Configuring and Binding an SSL Policy.
Context
Dual-device backup provides a unified platform for backing up user information between devices in a VRRP group through a remote backup service (RBS) channel. This facilitates flexible control and management of user services and improves service continuity. Establishing a dual-device backup platform includes configuring basic Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) group functions, a remote backup service (RBS), and a remote backup profile (RBP).
Perform the following steps on both the master and backup devices:
Enabling Remote Backup for ARP Services
This section describes how to enable remote backup for Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) services.
Context
Dual-device ARP hot backup prevents downlink traffic from being interrupted because the backup device does not learn ARP entries from a device on the user side during a master/backup VRRP switchover, which improves network reliability. After you establish a dual-device backup platform, enable remote backup for ARP services to ensure that ARP entries and host routing information are the same on the master and backup devices.
Perform the following steps on both the master and backup devices:
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run remote-backup-profile profile-name
A remote backup profile (RBP) is created, and the RBP view is displayed.
- Run service-type arp
Remote backup is enabled for ARP services.
- Run commit
The configuration is committed.
Follow-up Procedure
Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
Run the interface interface-type interface-number [.subinterface-number ] command to enter the interface or sub-interface view.
Run the remote-backup-profile profile-name command to bind the RBP to the interface or sub-interface.
Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
