Installing with Holding Rails
The holding rails are for a cabinet with a distance of 610 mm to 914 mm (24.02 in. to 35.98 in.) between the front and rear mounting bars.
When installed on holding rails, the server cannot be stacked on each other in a cabinet with a depth of 1 m (3.28 ft.).
If holding rails are used and the cable management arm (CMA) is equipped, the server cannot be installed in a cabinet with a depth of 1 m (3.28 ft.).
- Install the holding rails.
- Hold down the ejector release button on the front end of a holding rail and pull out the hook. See (1) and (2) in Figure 5-12.
- Insert the positioning pins on the rear of the rail into the square holes in the cabinet. See (3) in Figure 5-12.
- Align the front with a square hole, and push the holding rail forward until it snaps into place. See (4) in Figure 5-12.
- Push the hook backwards so that its metal sheet touches the mounting bar. See (5) in Figure 5-12.
- Install the other holding rail in the same way.
- Install the server.
- Pull out an inner rail from a holding rail until the inner rail cannot move, push the release button upward, and remove the inner rail from the holding rail. See (1) and (2) in Figure 5-13.
- Align the screws on the server with the notches in the inner guide rails, push the server forward until you hear a sound, and ensure that the latches eject and completely block the screws to fix the server to the inner guide rails. See Figure 5-14.
- Lift the server, align the inner rails with the holding rails, and push the server into the rack. See Figure 5-15. Note that four people are required to lift the server.
- Ensure that the inner rail is clipped into the middle rail, and then slowly push the chassis inside until you hear a click, as shown in (1) in Figure 5-16.
- If the inner rail is not clipped into the middle rail, the rolling balls and the holding rail may be damaged as shown in (2) and (3) in Figure 5-16.
- Press the release buttons on both sides, and push the server into the cabinet until the server cannot move forward. See Figure 5-17.
- Tighten the captive screws on the mounting ears to secure the server. See Figure 5-18.
- Connect the power cables and all signal cables.
- Power on the server. For details, see Powering On the Server.
