Installing CentOS 7.6 by Using a DVD-ROM Drive
The Atlas 800 training server (model 9000) supports only the UEFI mode.
- Mount the ISO image to the virtual DVD-ROM drive.
- Access the remote virtual console and enter the IP address, and the BMC user name and password of the server.
On the toolbar of the remote virtual console, click
.
The virtual DVD-ROM drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-1.
- Select Image File and click Browse.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
- Select the OS ISO file and click Open.
- In the virtual DVD-ROM drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD-ROM drive is connected to the server.
- Access the remote virtual console and enter the IP address, and the BMC user name and password of the server.
- On the iBMC WebUI, choose System > BIOS Settings > Boot Device, and set Preferred Boot Medium to One-time and Boot Medium to CD/DVD.
- Restart the server.
- On the toolbar, click
to forcibly restart the server.
A confirm dialog box is displayed.
- Select OK.
Restart the server. The OS boot screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-2.
- On the toolbar, click
- On the boot screen, select Install CentOS 7 and press Enter.
Wait for about 5 minutes. The language setting page is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-3.
- Select a language and click Continue.
The OS configuration screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-4 and Figure 2-5.
- In the LOCALIZATION area, set the following parameters and click Done.
- In the DATE&TIME area, set the date and time and select the city where the time zone is located. Shanghai is recommended.
- Click KEYBOARD and select the keyboard layout. English is recommended.
- Click LANGUAGE SUPPORT and select the language to be used. English is recommended.
- In the SOFTWARE area, click SOFTWARE SELECTION.
You are advised to select Server with GUI and Development Tools, as shown in Figure 2-6. You can select software as required.
- In the SYSTEM area, click INSTALLATION DESTINATION.
- Select the drive where the OS is to be installed, as shown in Figure 2-7.
- To create partitions manually, select Standard Partition from the drop-down list. You can select LVM or Standard Partition as required.Figure 2-8 Manual partitioning (1)
- Click + to create partitions. Create at least four partitions: /boot/efi (size: 200 MB), /boot, swap, and /. Create other partitions based on the actual requirement.Figure 2-9 Manual partitioning (2)
- You are advised to set the file system type of all partitions except the /boot/efi and swap partitions to ext4. You can select the file system types as required. After the partitions are created, click Done.Figure 2-10 Setting the file system type of a partition to ext4
- On the modification confirmation window, click Accept Changes, as shown in Figure 2-11.
- Click Begin Installation to start the installation, as shown in Figure 2-12.
- On the OS installation screen, click ROOT PASSWORD, set the password of the root user, and click Done, as shown in Figure 2-13.
- On the OS installation screen, click USER CREATION, set the username and password, and click Done, as shown in Figure 2-14.
- Wait more than 10 minutes for the installation to complete, and click Reboot, as shown in Figure 2-15.
- On the configuration screen displayed after restart, click LICENSE INFORMATION.Figure 2-16 OS boot screen (1)
- Select I accept the license agreement and click Done.Figure 2-17 OS boot screen (2)
- Configure the network as required.
- After the configuration is complete, click FINISH CONFIGURATION. The OS login page is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-18.

- Enable (ON) or disable (OFF) location services as required, and click Next.Figure 2-21 Setting privacy
