Installing CentOS 8.2 by Using a DVD Drive
- Mount the ISO image to the virtual DVD drive.
- On the toolbar of the remote virtual console, click
.
The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-1.
- Select Image File and click Browse.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
- Select the OS ISO file and click Open.
- In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server.
- On the toolbar of the remote virtual console, click
- Restart the system.
- On the toolbar, click
to restart the server.
A confirm dialog box is displayed.
- Click Yes.
- During the system startup, press Delete to enter the BIOS.
Press ← and → to switch to the Exit screen, and select the virtual DVD-ROM drive as the boot device. See Figure 3-2.
The OS boot screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-3.
- On the toolbar, click
- Select Install CentOS Linux 8 and press E to change the grub file.
Add modprobe.blacklist=hns3 to the end of the linux line, as shown in the following figure. Press Ctrl+X to continue the installation.
After the OS is installed, delete modprobe.blacklist=hns3.
The language selection screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-4.
- Select the default language to English and click Continue.
The INSTALLATION SUMMARY screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-5.
- In the LOCALIZATION area, click Time & Date to set the date and time.
You are advised to set the time to the current local time. After the configuration is complete, click Done.
- In the SOFTWARE area, click Software Selection.
You are advised to select Server with GUI and select all components on the right. Click Done after the selection is complete. See Figure 3-6.
- In the SYSTEM area, click Installation Destination.
- The Device Selection screen is displayed.
Select the drive where the OS is to be installed, and select a partitioning mode (automatic or manual partitioning).
In the Storage Configuration area, select Custom to use custom partitioning. See Figure 3-7.
- Click Done.
The page for partitioning is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-8.
- Select Standard Partition from the drop-down list box.
You can select LVM or Standard Partition as required.
- Click + to create partitions manually .
To automatically create partitions, click Click here to create them automatically.
- Create at least the /boot/efi (size 200 MB), /boot, swap, and / partitions. You can create other partitions based on the actual requirements.
- Select File System to ext4 for all partitions except the boot/efi and swap partitions.

If the SUMMARY OF CHANGES page is displayed, click Accept Changes.
- The Device Selection screen is displayed.
- In the LOCALIZATION area, click Time & Date to set the date and time.
- Click Begin Installation.
The OS installation starts, as shown in Figure 3-10.
- Click Root Password.
The ROOT PASSWORD screen is displayed.
Enter the password of the root user and click Done to return to the installation page.

The CREATE USER screen is displayed.
After a user is created, click Done to return to the installation page.
- After the installation is complete, click Reboot in the lower right corner to reboot the system.Figure 3-12 Rebooting the system
- Click Root Password.
- On the initial configuration screen displayed after restart, click License Information.
- Select I accept the license agreement and click Done.
- Click FINISH CONFIGURATION.The OS login page is displayed.
If erratic display occurs after CentOS 8.2 is installed, rectify the fault by following the instructions in Erratic Display Occurs After CentOS 8.2 Is Installed.
