Stack Member ID
A stack member ID is used to identify and manage a stack member. Each stack member has a unique stack member ID in a stack.
Stack members are managed on a per-chassis basis and identified by stack member IDs. When using commands to configure and manage stack members, you must specify their stack member IDs. For example, before the stacking function is enabled on a switch, you can run the display device slot 1 command to view information about the card in slot 1 on the switch. After the stacking function is enabled on the switch, you need to run the display device slot 2/1 command to view information about this card. In this command, 2 is the stack member ID of the switch.
In a stack, an interface number contains a stack member ID. Before the stacking function is enabled on a switch, interface numbers are in the slot ID/subcard ID/port number format. After the stacking function is enabled, interface numbers are in the stack member ID/slot ID/subcard ID/port number format. Assume that an interface on a standalone switch is numbered 10GE1/0/1. After the switch joins a stack and is assigned stack member ID 2, the interface is numbered 10GE2/1/0/1.
