Configuring a Stack Port

Procedure

1. Create a stack port.
   1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
   2. Run the interface stack-port port-id command to create a stack port.

      By default, no stack port exists in the system.

   3. (Optional) Run the description description command to configure a description for the stack port.

      By default, no description is configured for a stack port.

   4. Run the quit command to exit from the stack port view.
   5. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
2. Disable the service ports that you want to add to the stack port.
   1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.
   2. Run the shutdown command to disable the interface.
   3. Run the quit command to exit from the interface view.
   4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.

   Repeat the preceding operations to disable multiple service ports.

   Before adding stack member ports into a stack port, shut down these member ports. To prevent these member ports from generating CRC error packets and then entering the Error-Down state, enable these member ports after member ports on both ends of a stack link have been added to stack ports.

3. Add service ports to the stack port.

   Configurations in the stack management view and the interface view are the same. You can choose either one.

   Service ports are automatically configured as stack member ports after being added to a stack port. Alternatively, run the port mode stack interface interface-type { interface-number1 [ to interface-number2 ] } &<1-32> command in the stack management view or run the port mode stack command in the interface view to configure service ports as stack member ports and then add the stack member ports to a stack port.

   • Configuration in the stack port view:

     1. Run the interface stack-port port-id command to enter the stack port view.

     2. Run the port member-group interface interface-type { interface-number1 [ to interface-number2 ] } &<1-32> command to add stack member ports to the stack port.

     3. Run the quit command to exit from the stack port view.

     4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.

   • Configuration in the interface view:

     1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.

     2. Run the stack-port port-id command to add the physical port to the stack port.

     3. Run the quit command to exit from the interface view.

     4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.

4. Enable the stack member ports.

   Enable these member ports after physical ports on both ends of a stack link have been added to stack ports.

   1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.
   2. Run the undo shutdown command to enable the interface.
   3. Run the quit command to exit from the interface view.
   4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.

   Repeat the preceding operations to enable the other stack member ports.

5. Configure a load balancing mode for the stack port.
   1. Run the stack command to enter the stack management view.
   2. Run the load-balance profile profile-name command to configure a stack load balancing profile and enter the stack load balancing profile view. By default, there is a stack load balancing profile default.

      • Run the load-balance l2 { sbsp | dst-mac | src-mac | eth-type | outer-vlan | inner-vlan } ^* command to configure a load balancing mode for Layer 2 packets. By default, Layer 2 packets are load balanced based on dst-mac and src-mac.

      • Run the load-balance l3 { sbsp | src-ip | dst-ip | protocol | src-port | dst-port | outer-vlan | inner-vlan } ^* command to configure a load balancing mode for Layer 3 packets. By default, Layer 3 packets are load balanced based on src-ip, dst-ip, src-port, and dst-port.

   3. Run the quit command to exit from the stack load balancing profile view.
   4. Run the quit command to exit from the stack management view.
   5. Run the interface stack-port port-id command to enter the stack port view.
   6. Run the load-balance profile profile-name command to configure a stack load balancing profile for the stack port. By default, there is a stack load balancing profile default for a stack port.
   7. Run the quit command to exit from the stack port view.
   8. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
