If the password for login to Console port of mid-low end router is forgotten, how to delete it?
If the password for login to Console port is forgotten, it could be deleted only by restart, as follows:
1. Restart the router, and we could view the version of BootRom of router (there is a slight difference in recovery method corresponding by each BootRom version).
2.According to the prompts in restart, press CTRL+B to enter BootRom menu, at which point, it will prompt to enter BootRom password which is defaulted to empty and press Return key. If the password has ever been changed, please call 800 for BootRom super password.
3.If BootRom is at Release 4.x:
BootRom menu contains one entry of Clear application password which could delete the password for login to Console port once the router is restart after enabling the entry.
Some BootRoms at 4.x release does not contain the Clear application password option, so we could press CTRL+P directly and restart the router, without the need for login password for Console port.
4. If BootRom is at release of 7.x or 9.x, BootRom menu contains the option of Start up and ignore config. Select to enable it, and the configuration is factory-set, at which point executing disp save command could view the original configuration. If the password configured is clear-text, we could access it directly; if it is ciphertext, we could re-configure the username and password, and save the configuration.
The menu of BootRom at Release 7.x or 9.x contains the option of Clear application super password, which could delete the Super password of the router once it is selected.
