The max power consumption of the router NE80E is usually told as 6500W , but the router never utilises this much power , since this is the max. capacity of power supply connected to the router , not the max power utilised by router , and if this much power ( 140 amp ) is arranges by customer , then it's a waste of resource .
So depending on the customer router hardware configuration the correct power should be arranged
Each card in router utilises has a knows value of power dissipation which is as follows :
Backplane Plug Frame Components 150
Air blower 100
So depending on the cards you are using calculate the total power in Watts .
e.g. a router with 2 MPU , 2 SFU , 6 LPU , will utilises 1610 watts which is about 34 amperes in max load condition .
If the power resource of the customer is limited , then calculation of power utilisation is always a good idea .
