The NE80 router has only one switch for power on and off , there is no power switch redundancy.
The NE80 router is installed at one of the customer site.
Both the power 1 and power 2 of the router were connected with the terminal V1 at the back of the router DCDB present in the rack and controlled by the single switch S1 at the front of the DCDB.
As we switch off the switch S1 from the DCDB , the router get power off because both the powers are connected with the active and standby points of terminal V1 and controlled by the single switch S1.
We connected power1 with the active of V1 and power 2 with the active or standby of V2.
Now we can control power 1 by switch S1 and power 2 by the switch S2.
Now we did following :
1. S1 - off and S2 - on
2. S1 - on and S2 - off
Router was on in both the above cases.
The DCDB NE80 router rack contains four terminals as V1 , V2 , V3 and V4 .
Each terminal can output two -48V DC supplies as active and standby and both are controlled by one switch.
V1 (both active and standby) controlled by S1
V2 (both active and standby) controlled by S2
V3 (both active and standby) controlled by S3
V4 (both active and standby) controlled by S4
To give power switch redundancy , we can connected power1 of the NE80 router with the active of V1 so that it can be controlled by switch S1 and power 2 with the active or standby of V2 so that it can be controlled by switch S2.
In this way power 1 can be controlled by switch S1 and power 2 by S2 and we can give power as well as switch redundancy to fully satisfy our customers..
