Two NE40 routers with VRP 5.3 (B551) connected via STM-1 link (protected SDH network) using POS interfaces have reported their POS interfaces to gown down and very fast afterwards up.

the problem occurred on transmission devices in SDH network and this network has sent AIS to NE40-A to inform it about the problem. NE40-A received this AIS, confirmed receiving AIS by generating PAIS and brought down POS interface from which AIS has been received. In the described situation the problem has occurred on SDH network and.
In the situation described above NE40-A has received Alarm Indication Signal (AIS) from SDH protected network which is providing STM-links for these NE40 routers. Such error message is sent to the device to inform that a problem has occurred on SDH network. If the AIS has been received by NE40-A it means that somewhere between NE40-A and N40-B or on remote NE40-B a problem has occurred and information about this problem has been sent to NE40-A. NE40-A has confirmed receiving AIS by sending PAIS and bringing down POS interface from which AIS has come. NE40-B didn’t receive any AIS, there is also nothing which would suggest that NE-B router had a problem with POS interface.
In the following situtation there are no actions neccessary from our side. The problem has occured in SDH network but there are special protections mechanism which allowed to recover from this situation fast.
