Customer has interconnected some WiMax devices of M-Vendor and A-Vendor with NE40 routers. While transfering some authentication certificates, the ethernet payload is fregmented and the packet could not be reassembled on destination WiMax client correctly.
When we increase the payload size of ethernet interface on which the WiMax equipment is connected to 2200bytes, the problem is resolved. We can only change the payload size by changing MTU on the ethernet interface.
The command is :
The fragmentation is done on NE40 router according to ethernet standards so thus the packet is fragmented correctly but the WiMax device was unable to receive it correcly.
The basic issue is interoperability of WiMx system traffic pattern and Huawei router. The traffic send by WiMax equipment is of higher payload and operates correctly if the packet is received at the other end unfragmented. While in Router case, if an IP packet has payload more than 1500 bytes, it will be fragmented according to ethernet standards. The problem of service quality solved after changing the payload becasue now there is no framentation and assembly process in traffic so no problem.
