How to detect the connection status between the NMS Server and the Modem?
When the N2000 NMS Alarm forwards the SMS, ensure that the NMS Server is well connected to the Modem. Below is testing method for the wireless Modem, and the method can also be used to verify the cable Modem.
When the Modem connects to the COM serial port of the server, debug Modem through tip command in the Solaris system. The related debug commands are as follows:
Open a serial port through tip command and set the baud rate. 9600 is the baud rate, and /dev/term/a is serial port A.
#tip -9600 /dev/term/a
Detect whether the Modem is in good condition, and a returning OK shows the successful communication.
Dialing test, for instance, dialing a telephone number to test whether the dialing is successful. A returning OK shows the normal dialing.
Exit tip command. Exit cannot be performed, after the input of ~. Press Enter, and then input ~.
If the type of the server is the Windows version. Use the hyper terminate to connect the serial port for the Modem to insert. Set the baud rate to 9600.
Dial a telephone number to test whether the dialing test is successful. A returning OK shows the successful dialing. Note that after the atdt sentence, the sign ";". must be added. See the attached figure for detailed operation.
