YaST is a powerful config tool in SuSE Linux. It can run at GUI or console. When run yast at telnet terminal from Windows XP CMD console, it will display error format.
Example, the CMD is Chinese, the Linux is English.
1. Set the Current CodePage as 437 (OEM - US) in the CMD Attribute.
Run regedit, find the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\%SystemRoot%_system32_cmd.exe], set the CodePage as 437 decimalist. And the Chinese is 936 (ANSI/OEM - Simplified Chiniese GBK).
2. Run telnet in CMD console.
C:\Documents and Settings\William.K>telnet
Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Client
Escape Character is 'CTRL+]'
Microsoft Telnet> set term vt100 ----Set terminal type
Will term type
Preferred term type is vt100
Microsoft Telnet> open 192.168.0.180 ----Login Linux
3. Use su command to switch root user, then run yast, the format will be OK.
There are two reasons, one is the language difference between CMD and Linux, the other is telnet terminal unconformity.
