If the disk space is not allocated reasonably in Windows system, the data files of database grow oversize. This leads to the insufficiency of the data file drive. How to migrate the database files?
1. Enter SQL Server Enterprise Manager and, find out the database required to be migrated. Right-click All Tasks > Separate Database, confirm the prompt information and separate the database. After the successful separation, this database cannot be seen in the Enterprise Manager.
2. Migrate the data files and log files in this database under to the directory of another driver.
3. Click Database in the SQL Server Enterprise Manager. Right-click All Tasks > Add Database. Select database files under the new path (that is, mdf files) in the displayed dialog box. Click OK, and then the Enterprise Manager can show normally the migrated database. The migration is complete.
Plan the storage space for database files before installation to avoid the unusual operation of the NMS caused by the space insufficiency resulted from oversize of database files.
