In the process of installing the V2R11 high availability (HA) NMS, the Veritas cannot be installed through the script (n2ktools) due to the problem of host name settings.
The OS version is right.
Components of VVR hadn’t been installed in the server.
syntax error at /export/home/n2ktools/Install/config/instVVR.response line 11, near "HOST-B"
Compilation failed in require at scripts/install/CPI41SOL.pm line 2694.
Can not find log directory in system.
Fail to install VxVM in system.
1. At first, the cause is considered to be the problem of the n2ktools script; however, the script is used before and proved to be usable.
2. The cause is considered to be the problem of the system. After the system is reinstalled, the problem persists.
3. Based on the error prompt "syntax error at /export/home/n2ktools/Install/config/instVVR.response line 11, near ’HOST-B’", check line 11 of the instVVR.response and no syntax error is found. In addition, this file is generated only after you run the ./InstVxVM.pl command. The file is automatically generated, so, the format is unlikely to have any problem. Then, the cause may be the host name of "HOST-B". The host name with "-" may not be recognized when the script is compiled. After "-" is deleted from the host name and the script is executed again, the problem is solved.
In the upgrade of the HA NMS, the operator used to use the name of the host that is used before the upgrade. Because the R8 HA NNS is manually installed and does not use the script, the installation failure in R11 caused by the host name does not occur. Therefore, in the installation of the new version (R11) HA NMS, use only letters and do not use any other symbols for the host name. If the customer requires a special host name (such as HOST-A), modify the host name after the NMS is installed.
