MA5600 DC Upgrade Failure Caused by Poor Network or Busy Host

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  76 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

During the DC automatic upgrade, in the step of Load Program, the error message indicating that the device is unreachable or the TFTP is disabled is displayed.

Alarm Information

The device is unreachable or the TFTP is disabled.

Handling Process

Open a terminal window and run the following command (N2000DBServer is the name of the database, and n2000bms is the password of the Sybase sa user. You can modify them based on the actual condition):
root@BMSMT82 # . /n2kuser/.profile
root@BMSMT82 # isql -SN2000DBServer -Usa -Pn2000bms
1> use DCDB
2> go
1> update tbl_devicetypepara set loadprogramretrycount = 1500 where devtypeid=35
2> go
Restart the DC server process.
loadprogramretrycount = 1500 indicates the count for the NMS to obtain the progress.
devtypeid = 35 indicates the MA5600.

Root Cause

After a device is loaded successfully, the device automatically sends traps to the NMS, and the NMS determines whether the loading is successful based on the traps.
In addition, the NMS obtains the loading progress from the device every two seconds. If the obtained progress does not reach 100% when the count for obtaining the progress exceeds the preset number, and the NMS does not receive any traps from the device, the DC regards that the loading fails.
If the network condition is poor or the device is busy, a longer waiting time is required. In this case, you can modify the count for obtaining the progress.
