Due to a software defect, an L12S board fails to be added to slot 6 on an OptiX OSN 1500A NE

Issue Description

On an OptiX OSN 1500A NE, two SSR2PD1 boards are successfully added to slots 2 and 12. An L12S board added to slot 7 also works properly. An L12S board added to slot 6, however, cannot be queried with a command. Engineers interchange the L12S boards in slots 6 and 7. The fault persists. For more information, refer to the attachments.

Handling Process

Replace the SSR2PD1 boards with the SSR1PD1 boards. Alternatively, upgrade the SSR2PD1 boards to V100R007C02B010 (software version: 5.30T01). The fault is rectified. 

Root Cause

 The documents on the SSR1PD1 and SSR2PD1differ in some individual registers. As a result, the SSR2PD1 cannot report the second interface board with the SSR1PD1 software. The root cause is that the logic of the SSR2PD1 differs from the logic of the SSR1PD1 in interface board identification. The software, however, is not notified of the difference. In addition, the documents concerning the SSR1PD1 and SSR2PD1 describe the interface board type in the same way. As a result, the SSR2PD1 still uses the SSR1PD1 software. The fault occurs.
