Customer wanted to create ASON trail in one ASON network as shown in attached Figure 1 and Figure 2. While creating the ASON trail customer gave the source and sink node. As a result the created trail selected VC4 by its own. Customer complained that they want to assign the VC4 by their choice but ASON trail management selects the VC4 by their own.
The reason was that customer used the “Pre-Calculate” option in the end after selecting the VC4 that overcomes the route restriction that was set by customer. Then again the VC4 no 3 was selected on the route and did not use the Pre-Calculate. After that the trail created on VC4 no 3 as shown in Figures 8 and 9.
To select the VC4 1st of all click the “To Port” and “To Timeslot”. “To Port” will show the ports of available boards. “To Timeslot” will show the available and consumed VC4 no’s. Then you can select the desired VC4 as shown in Figure 3 that VC4 no 3 was selected by customer. Similarly the 3rd VC4 was selected for other nodes in the topology as shown by Figures 4, 5 and 6.
Then click the “Apply” button to create the ASON trail. But at the end result was different than expected and again the VC4 selected were different automatically as shown in Figure 7.
Whenever you create the ASON trail then you can select the desired the VC4 by using the “To Port” and “To Timeslot” options. Always remember that do not use the “Pre-Calculate” option to avoid the automatic selection of VC4.
