Issue Description

The OptiX OSN 6800 adopts two inter-board communication modes, that is, Ethernet and RS485. What information is transmitted in these two modes?

Alarm Information

Handling Process

1. For a single subrack:
A. RS485: Both the protection switching information about various protection groups and the information about the ASON software are transmitted over the RS485 bus by default.
B. Ethernet: Except the information carried over the RS485 bus, all the other information are carried over the Ethernet, such as information about reported alarms and delivered configuration.
2. For the main-extended subrack (multiple subrack):
All exchanged information between the main subrack and extended subrack is transmitted over Ethernet. This is called inter-subrack information exchange.

Root Cause

1. The RS485 has two channels which back up each other. When both the two RS485 buses fail, all the information in the RS485 can be transmitted over the Ethernet.
2. The information in Ethernet, however, cannot be transmitted over the RS485.
