The Path Protection Pair Is Prohibited When Services Are Configured for the OptiX Metro 1000 by Using the Trail Method

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  106 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

For the OptiX Metro1000 equipment, the version of the NE software is and the path protection ring is used. When the services are configured by using the trail method and certain trail services are activated, the system displays a prompt box, indicating that the path protection pair is prohibited. This is caused by the version attribute. After the path protection attribute is set to Protected, the services of a single site can be normally configured. In normal cases, the services should be configured normally by using the trail method.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

1. Configure services for other NEs of the same version in the same networking mode by using the trail method according to the preceding analysis. The services are normally configured and only one ring is faulty. Therefore, the NMS fault is excluded.
2. It is suspected that the NE software of the OptiX 155/622H equipment on the ring is faulty. The upgrade cannot be performed because the equipment is running. At first, check the equipment configuration. It is found that only the logical system of the SNC ring is configured. On other sites, however, the logical systems of the PP ring and SNC ring are configured at the same time.
3. Superimpose the path ring on the ring and then configure services by using the trail method. All are normal. The fault is rectified.

Root Cause

The possible causes are as follows:
1.The function of the NMS using the trail method to configure services is not perfect.
2.The NMS database is faulty.
3.The NE software of the OptiX 155/622H equipment is faulty or the upgrade is incorrect.
4.The configuration is incorrect.

Observation plays an important role in rectifying faults.
