In a certain network the 4 SLQ4-3 port has to be connected with other vendors E-BSC port 0x0. The connectivity is of STM-4 level. Upon establishing the physical connectivity the cutomer reports that Rlos Alarm remains on 4SLQ4 board. Upon visiting the site it is found that the ambient temperature is too high.
R_LOS and TEM_HA alarms on 4slq4
1- Checked the other ports of SLQ4 for physical connectivity and found them to be normal so the GSCC IS reporting the correct alarm and the problem lies within the SLQ4.
2- Checked the alarm supression and found that TEM_HA alarm was supressed a month before.
3- checked the tube core temperature performance (OSPITMPCUR)and found it to be beyond threshold.
4- Unsupressed the alarm and found that it was still being reported.
5- adjusted the room temperature but the TEM_HA alarm remained.
6- Replaced the SPF module of 4-SLQ4-3 port and the equipment now functions normally.
The laser of the board's SFP module had already been damaged due to the TEM_HA alarm which had occued a month before and now upon establishing the physical connectivity the SCC board reported R_LOS on the 4SLQ4-3 port.
In case of any temperature alarm related to the laser, A precaustionary measure should be taken no close the lasers which are un operational.
