Enabling of the Broadcasting Packet Suppression Function Causes the Failure of Creating the Link Aggregation Group

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  110 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Create a link aggregation group on the SSN2EGR2 board. The system reports an alarm, indicating conflict of the physical attributes of ports. Creation of the link aggregation group fails.

Alarm Information

The physical attribute of ports conflict, Error Code: 40061

Handling Process

After disabling the broadcasting packet suppression function at the port, creating a link aggregation group is successful. Ensure that the work mode, maximum packet size, flow control function, and tag attributes of the ports to be added to a link aggregation group are the same.

Root Cause

The data boards that use the NP architecture, such as EFS0, EGS2, EGR2, and EMR0, implement the function of broadcasting packet suppression based on only one port. If broadcasting packet suppression of the port to be aggregated is enabled, in the microcode of the NP, it is hard to restrict the broadcasting packets of multiple ports by using an algorithm. Therefore, certain restrictions are implemented on the host. If broadcasting packet suppression is enabled at the port, the preceding alarm is reported when a link aggregation group at the corresponding ports is created.
