FAQ-Does the NE40E Support Traffic Redirect on GRE Tunnel Interfaces and Multiple GRE Tunnels Using a Same Source Address

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  104 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

In the following network diagram:
                                              /Next hop 1
NE40E-1―GRE tunnel―NE40E-2 /
                                               \Next hop 2
1. NE40E-2 is the egress of the GRE tunnel. Two IP next hops remain after a GRE packet reaches NE40E-2. In this case, does the NE40E router support configuring traffic redirect on the GRE tunnel interface, for example, redirect the packet to next hop 1.
2. When multiple GRE tunnels are established between NE40E-1 and NE40E-2, can these GRE tunnels use a same source loopback address, that is, can the source addresses of these GRE tunnels be the same?

Alarm Information

Handling Process

1. The uncontrolled V3R3 version supports traffic redirect on GRE tunnel interfaces. The versions earlier than V3R3 does not support this feature.
2. The current NE40E versions all support a same loopback address serving as the source of multiple GRE tunnels.
Note: Before enabling GRE services on the NE40E or NE80E, add a TSU board to the device as the hardware support.
