Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  253 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The version information of the NE40E used in the network is as follows:
Huawei Versatile Routing Platform Software
VRP (R) software, Version 5.30 (NE40E&80E V300R002C02B217)
According to the logs, the undo shutdown command is used on the interface to activate it before the alarm appears.

Alarm Information

#Feb 11 00:16:08 2009 GXNN-SZL-N40E-E1 SRM/1/ENTITYINVALID: OID Physical entity failed. (EntityPhysicalIndex=131073, BaseTrapSeverity=4, BaseTrapProbableCause=55, BaseTrapEventType=5, EntPhysicalContainedIn=131072, EntPhysicalName="LPU Board 2", RelativeResource="serdes receive cdr on card 0 ", ReasonDescription="LPU2 is failed, serdes receive cdr on card 0 abnormal !")
Feb 11 2009 00:16:08 GXNN-SZL-N40E-E1 %%01SRM/4/P1XX_RXCDR_ERR(l): Slot2 PIC0 SERDES receive CDR abnormal!

Handling Process

Shut down the interface by using the shutdown command. After that, the alarm disappears.

Root Cause

When the undo shutdown command is executed, the interface is not connected to any fiber and is in unused state. After the command is run, the PIC module of the LPU actively checks the quality of the link to which the interface is connected. Because no fiber is connected, the optical power of the interface is insufficient. Therefore, the alarm appears.

To shut down an unused interface or an interface not connected to any links, use the shutdown command.
