Several customer on 1 OLT are complaining that they are facing frequent disconnection of their service.
1. Customer changed all Fiber and splitters connected to that site, but problem still exists.
Site Engineer checked point by point.
On OLT side, he disconnected the fiber from PON port of GPBC board and connected with power meter, he should get no value but he was getting -21 values, that mean even OLT is not asking for transmission and not assigning time slots as fiber is disconnected but still some ONT is transmitting(Rogue).
there were two 1:32 splitter in two different building which are connecting to this PON port. On first splitter disconnected main input fiber link to all ONT and connected power meter to observe power coming from ONT side and found that no power is coming that mean rogue ONT not on this splitter
Then went to the second splitter , disconnected main fiber link of splitter and connected with meter and found that from ONTs side power is coming so disconnected every ont one by one from splitter and connected with meter and found one ONT which was transmitting continuously and replaced that ONT, after that again connected main fiber link of splitter with power meter and found no power coming from ONT side.
1 faulty ONT was working continuously, so sending traffic in other ONTs time slots, so interference happened and other customer's packets are discarded.
We can make this operation remotly by disabling ONTs one by one, don't need always to visit site to make such operation.
