NMS: iManager U2000
Equipment: OSN1500 MSTP+
Network topology includes two MSTP+ OSN-1500 nodes connected through packet boards as shown in the attached picture. NE-7071 is a GNE and NE-7070 is non gateway. It was observed that the NE-7070 logged out from NMS and could not be accessed.
Following steps were performed to handle and resolve this issue.
1-Physical connectivity of the packet boards was verified and found normal, also no ETH_LOS alarm reported on the ports.
2-Port mode was set as Layer-3 and IP address for the ports also found in the same subnet on both NE-7071 and NE-7070.
3-After performing the above steps, the settings of the layer-ports were checked in the DCN management ? Port settings & Protocol settings and found normal.
4-After checking the settings in DCN Management ? Bandwidth management, it was found that the “Ethernet board VLANID” parameter in the Bandwidth management was not set to the default value at GNE-7071
5-Default value for "Ethernet board VLANID" parameter is "4094" while the setting value was found as "4093".
6-After modifying "Ethernet board VLANID" parameter to default value "4094", problem was resolved and NE logged in successfully.
Following are the possible causes for the above mentioned problem.
1-Packet board' s port mode incorrect. (Port mode should be set to Layer-3)
2-IP address for the packet boards connected with each other not set in the same subnet. NE communication will be failed if the IP addresses for the ports of packet boards don' t set correctly.
3-Ports are not connected and having ETH_LOS alarms.
4-Ports are disabled in DCN management.
5-Board’s hardware fault.
Avoid to change the default values for the parameters in the NE Bandwidth management as it will affect the visibility of the nodes connecting through GNE.
