Issue Description

The memory of an AR4640 was upgraded to 512M to meet project requirements. Now, the upgrade from VRP3.40 0202PO8 to VRP3.40 R0311 fails on the AR4640.

Alarm Information

After version transfer is complete, the target version for the upgrade is specified and the AR4640 is restarted. Then, the following message is displayed.

Handling Process

 1. Check the size of the version file against the description in the version release notes. The result shows that the version file size is correct. When the version file (VRP3.40 R0311) is used on a device with 256M memory, there is no problem. It indicates that the version file is correct.
2. During startup, check memory according to system prompts. The check result shows that the memory is normal. After that, return the VRP version to VRP3.40 0202PO8 and the device operates well. It indicates that the 512M memory has no problem.
3. In the laboratory, R&D engineers find that the 512M memory is incompatible with VRP3.40 R0311.

Root Cause

 1. The version file is incorrect.
2. It is possible that the memory is faulty because the displayed message instructs to check the memory.
3. The VRP version does not support the memory.
