Incorrect setting of Jumpers at SCB board leads to LTI not report

Issue Description

One day, customer found the LTI did not report on the metro1000V2 when there was no clcok input.
The metro1000V2 43SCB version is

Handling Process

Connect 2 and 3 in J703 or modify the clock signal mode to BIT, then examine J702 and J704 also.

There are different clock extract and recover circuit for the two modes, so we need change the connection of jumpers when we connect the external clock with different mode.

For the BITS mode, chip need a reference 2MHZ clock to extract and recover clock from the input singal.

If we disconnect the input clock and make the wrong jumper setting, when there is no input signal, it will output the reference 2MHZ clock to the system.

Thus, the system get the reference clock and dose not report LTI alarm.

Root Cause

Configuration issue.

Check the current clock resource, we find it is tracing first external clcok.

But there is no connection at NO.1 input port.

Then we check the jumpers setting.

From the 43SCB guide-SE0000100583, we know the jumpers setting when we use the external clock input IN1:

Connect 2 and 3 in J702, 2 and 3 in J704 and 1 and 2 in J703. The 2MHz clock signals should be input to IN1.

Connect 1 and 2 in J702, 1 and 2 in J704 and 2 and 3 in J703. The 2Mbit clock signals should be input to IN1.

According the guide, it should connect 2 and 3 in J703 when the clock signal is 2MHZ mode.

But current Metro1000V2 connects 2 and 3 in J703.


Please examie the jumpers before we input the external clock signals.

The default jumpers connection is BIT mode.
