Now the WDM/OTN ASON DWDM network is implemented all over the world, but the ASON network have many things need to be pay attention to while do the network design. This case is used for describing the MCA design principle.

For the MCA configuration have some principle of the ASON network:
1, if the network do not configure the MCA board, it is forbidden running the WDM ASON function in the network
2, for the MCA configuration have the principle, as the below description:
2.1, the line direction should configure the MCA in the send and receive side, monitor the amplifier board MON port.
2.2, in the local dimension, the send side should configure the MCA board in the amplifier board MON port.
2.3, the OLA site no need configure the MCA board.
2.4, if the site have two conjunction amplifier board, the MCA should connect to the second board MON port.
But how to configure the MCA board quantity for one site:
For example:one site have 6 line direction and 2 local dimension
the solution is that one line diretion need two MCA port, one local dimension need one MCA port, so for this site totally need 14 MCA port. if configure the MCA8, need two MCA8 board.
Because the ASON network have the strict requirement about the network, for example the optix power/OSNR and so on. especial for the WDM ASON network it must be configure the MCA.
For the traditional WDM network, suggest to configure the MCA board for the commission and maintenance; for the WDM ASON network, must configure the MCA board for the OPA pre-set.
