Using the function of Automatic IP Discovery of the WebLCTv1r3, I could obtain the NE ID & IP of RTN 950. For example, the NE ID = 9-10 & the IP address = 10.50.21.1. When I re-configure my computer IP address from 10.50.21.10 to 10.50.21.254, I still can not log-in this RTN950.
Then , I try to change my computer IP address range from 10.50.21.1 to 10.50.21.9.I cannot use 10.50.21.1 as this RTN950 is using this IP dedicated IP address. I also receive a error message " IP address conflict" .
Thus, I tried to change my computer IP address to 10.50.21.2 & try again to log-in the RTN950.
Result : Log-in successful.
On checking the data configuration, the sub-net mask was set as 255.255.255.252. This means that there is ONLY one IP address engineer could actually use to log-in via U2000 WebLCT .
I suspect 2 possibilies in my process of trobleshooting.
01.) The NM communication port is faulty
02.) Something is wrong with my IP address range of my computer. I have tried from 10.50.21.10 to 10.50.21.254 & yet, I still cannot log-in this RTN950.
I would like to suggest that future U2000 WebLCT using IP auto-discovery method could not only discover the NE ID, NE-IP but also their respective IP sub-net mask of the device.
This new suggested function would seriously help O & M engineers to troubleshoot at site.
