Microwave Link is not established with ISU2 & IFU2 card in a HOP.

Issue Description

Currently the network is running with the version V1R3 of RTN 950(IFU2), when the version of V1R3 of RTN 950(ISU2) is introduced then as per the plan we have tried to implement with one side ISU2 & other side IFU2.
But failed to obtain the microwave link.

Alarm Information

MW LOF: It is the alarm of loss of frame, always showing when the link is down or break.

Handling Process

From the above analysis, we understood that ISU2 & IFU2 cards cannot supports each other in a single HOP.
So, whenever this kind of situation occures, pls separate the ISU2 cards & IFU2 cards with different HOPs.

Root Cause

KIndly find the detail analysis about the ISU2 & IFU2 card:

1. IFU2- Supports Native E1+Eth integrated IP radio
ISU2- Supports Native E1+Eth and Native STM-1+Eth integrated IP radio

2. IFU2- L2 frame header compression:
a.Compresses the DA+SA+VLAN/MPLS+TYPE bytes in an Ethernet frame header.
b.Compression support: Common Ethernet frames without VLAN support 14-byte compression; a maximum of 22-byte compression.
c.Supports adaptive header compression. Automatically compresses VLAN tags and MPLS labels.

ISU2- L3 frame header compression:
a.Compresses the DA+SA+UDP bytes in an IP header.
b. Supports IPv4/IPv6 header compression transmission, which needs to be set on the NMS.
c.Supports adaptive header compression. Automatically compresses UDP headers.

3. Only newly introduced ISU2 can provide the packet header compression function, while IFU2 cannot.

As the headers of the above cards are not same, link could not be established in between.



ISU2 Cards should be use at the backhaul cause the backplain switching capacity of ISU2 is 1G wider than IFU2.
