Handling Process

 but  for ESC (Electric Supervisory Channel)  

1- features :  Converge supervisory signal in main signal.  

2-  advantages :  Reduce complexity, cost-effective. (Need not OSC board)
                               Improve system power budget (Throw off Insertion loss of FIU) 

3-   disadvantages : OLA site does not support ESC.
The ESC reduces the investment of the OSC. It also deletes the insertion loss of the FIU. This lowers the cost and the power budget of optical channels.  
The following restrictions on using ESC:
1- No services are added to or dropped from the OLA site. The ESC function cannot be provided by the OTU. Use the DCN network to provide management.
2- When the ESC is used, order wire cannot be provided. At present, order wire interfaces are on the OSC board.

 OSC (Optical Supervisory Channel) :

1- features : Independent main signal &  supervisory signal.
                       FIU and SC1/SC2/HSC1 board adopted. 

2-  advantages : Can be supervised in any site.

3-   disadvantages : Higher cost.
                                   Consider the insertion loss of FIU. 


need to check the engineering drawing design documents also to check which card we should use the SC1 or SC2 
 OSC is necessarywhen :
1- Adopt orderwire phone.
2- OLA (without services added or dropped).
3- Support WDM channel ASON.
4- Provide optical layer management overhead of OTN.
5- Support OWSP protection. 

while When ESC is necessary in the following cases
CWDM network.
Beyond 52dB, single long hop.
