A CF Card Cannot be Identified Because Its Version is Too Early

Publication Date:  2012-07-17 Views:  598 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The customer wants to upgrade the USG5300 from the V100R002 to the UTM version (V100R003) version. To implement the upgrade, the hardware must be upgraded first. That is, the memory must be scaled up from 2 GB to 4 GB, and a 1 GB CF card must be added. After the hardware upgrade, the customer restarts the device. At this time, the device version is still the V100R002. During the startup, the system indicates that the memory has been upgraded to 4 GB (two 2GB memory modules). After the startup, the customer runs the DIR  ? command. No CF card parameter is displayed. This indicates that the CF card is not identified.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Upgrade the device from the V100R002 to V100R003

Root Cause

The USG5300 UTM version requires a 1 GB CF card. This version has quite large IPS and AV signature databases (about 40 MB). and the compilation result of the databases is also large (about 300 MB). Therefore, this version needs a large storage space.
Moreover, only the UTM version requires a CF card, so only the UTM version can identify CF cards.
