How to Locate the SAS Port Address of the T8000 Blade Server which the S2100 Maps LUNs to?

Publication Date:  2012-07-17 Views:  157 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The T8000 connects to the S2100 by using SAS cables. For capacity expansion, more blades are added to the T8000, and then the S2100 is to map LUNs to it. However, multiple SAS port addresses are discovered and the S2000 fails to locate the exact address which the LUNs are mapped to. Furthermore, after a blade is removed, its SAS port address still exists on the management interface, and a disconnected SAS port address fails to be dynamically deleted.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Restart the blade on which the SAS resources need to be reallocated. After the blade restarts, press Ctrl+C as prompted to enter the SAS configuration screen. Record the address and log in to the S2100 management interface to add LUN mappings. Select the correct SAS port address, and then the storage resources can be properly allocated to the blade.
Root Cause
A disconnected SAS port can be dynamically deleted on the management interface only after the S2100 is restarted. The S2100 in this example has ongoing services; therefore, it cannot be restarted or its SAS cables cannot be disconnected to locate the SAS port address of the relevant blade. The only solution is to query and record the SAS port address and then map the LUNs in the S2100 to the address.
