Ultrapath Client Configuration Problem Causes the Failure in MSCS Dual-Node Configuration

Publication Date:  2012-07-17  |   Views:  985  |   Downloads:  0  |   Author:  anliku  |   Document ID:  EKB1000002521

Issue Description

The customer has installed Windows 2003 Server (64-bit), and tried to configure the MSCS dual-node environment. The mappings of Huawei Symantec storage devices have been completed. The server has scanned disks and allocated drive letters for the data disk (Z:) and the quorum disk (Q:). The Ultrapath client has been installed and the server has been restarted.
When the quorum disk was being configured during the MSCS dual-node configuration, the configuration interface failed to respond for a long time and returned the Quorum Disk Q: Cannot Access error.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Select the Enable Cluster option in the configuration of each Ultrapath client, and set Persistent Reservation Key of each node to a unique value in the same cluster for cluster configuration.
After the previous configuration is complete, perform MSCS dual-node configuration.

Root Cause

During the check, it is found that the Enable Cluster option in the Ultrapath client configuration is deselected, which causes the failure in configuring cluster quorum disks.

When you install Ultrapath, check whether the customer's environment is a dual-node or clustered one.
Note that one cluster supports a maximum of eight nodes.
