Issue Description

There is an alarm in the ISM of N8300,which described as ID=3021F0010,content=Workload of system is too busy

Alarm Information

Handling Process

  1. Login the NAS system with support account
  2. Get value of alarm_level in [cpu_idle] column in /opt/HS/alarm/hard_alarm.conf
  3. Run the following command
#mpstat -P ALL
compare the value of %idle column with above one, if it’s bigger, the CPU status is ok, you can delete the alarm manually.
  1. if the value of %idle column is less than that of step 2, it suggests the CPU is abnormal, and there are some processes which occupy too much CPU resource
  2. gather all the processes with the following command
#ps –aux
Check which process cause the problem

Root Cause

The main reason of the alarm is that there are too many operations on the CPU of NAS engine due to heavy traffic, if the peak traffic is gone, the CPU becomes normal but the alarm remains.

The case shows how to keep NAS system running smoothly, you should keep an eye on the ISM alarms, find out the potential problem of the system
