LUNs Fail to be Scanned Because the Host Name is Changed

Publication Date:  2012-07-18 Views:  36 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
If the name of the host to which LUNs have been mapped is changed, the mapped LUNs fail to be scanned after the host is restarted.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Log out of the initiator on the server, add the service IP address of the disk array again, and add ports on the disk array again. LUNs can be scanned on the host.
Root Cause
Changing the host name also changes relevant iSCSI configurations on the server.
After the host name is changed, the default name of the iSCSI software is changed too. Therefore, if you want to change the name of the host that has mapped LUNs, it is recommended to delete the LUN mappings first, map the LUNs to the host again and change the IP address of the port discovered on the disk array, and then scan disks.
